Minority Serving Institution
As CU Denver works towards our Strategic Plan Goal 1 in becoming the nation’s first equity-serving institution, the Office of Research Services (ORS) has created this webpage to support research and creative activity teams as they navigate opportunities related to any Minority-Serving Institution (MSI) status.
The University of Colorado Denver is currently recognized as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) and an Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution (AANAPISI).
We’d like to emphasize for our research and creative works teams that, although our institution is currently recognized as an HSI/AANAPISI and has been awarded the Fiscal Year 2022 Department of Education AANAPISI Program grant, we are not necessarily eligible to submit to other externally sponsored opportunities limited to Minority Servings Institutions. 05/14/24: The University of Colorado Denver has once again earned Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) status, and is listed as both an HSI and AANAPISI on the latest U.S. Department of Education Eligibility Matrix. Please see announcement here.
07/13/23: The University of Colorado Denver is now included as an Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution (AANAPISI) in the latest U.S. Department of Education Eligibility Matrix for FY 2023. The Eligibility Matrix consists of programmatic lists of institutions that meet the definitions of the Minority Serving Institution (MSI) program areas, and assists sponsors with confirming eligibility for opportunities limited to institutions of higher education that serve these minority populations. 05/18/23: The ORS is thrilled by the announcement from Chancellor Marks that CU Denver | Anschutz is now officially an Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution (AANAPISI)!
