Part of the National Institutes of Health High-Risk, High-Reward Research Program within the Office of the Director, the Pioneer Program Award focuses on single investigator research efforts that are innovative and show promise of broad impact. This Award supports basic, clinical and translational research and the proposed project must represent a change in direction from the researcher's previous work. No preliminary data are necessary. Investigators are required to spend at least 51% effort on activities related to the Pioneer Award for the first three years and a minimum of 25% for the last two years. Applications are due September 10, 2021.
