NIH Investigators - Need Equipment?

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has released this year's announcements for their instrumentation grants - the Shared Instrumentation Grant (SIG) and High-End Instrumentation Grant (HEI) Programs. Both support purchases of commercially-available instruments for research purposes only, and applications are submitted by groups of NIH-funded investigators who will be using the equipment (a minimum of 3 investigators comprise a Major User Group). SIGs fund equipment between $50K-$600K while HEI awards begin at $600,001 and go up to $2 million (note the maximums represent the most NIH will fund, but there is no upper limit on instrumentation costs). Applications for both programs are due June 1, 2021. Start early - you need an itemized quote from your vendor. (Note that while the University may submit multiple applications for these programs, if two or more applications request the same instrument a letter from a high-level institutional official must be included with the application providing justification in terms of the campus-wide instrumentation plan.)
